Torn Paper Ghost Craft

Updated on 27th September 2021 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

This torn paper ghost craft is perfect for Halloween and is even easier to make using our free ghost template.

Because you’ll be spreading the glue before you stick down your paper you can make sure that you have a ghost shape at the end but even if your glue and paper end up all over the page it really doesn’t matter, after all ghosts aren’t normally perfectly fully formed!

Ghost Crafts

We love making ghost crafts, in fact they’re some of our most popular for Halloween because they’re both easy to do and it really doesn’t matter if something is done in slightly the wrong place, ghosts are far from Pinterest perfect themselves!

You can find more of our favourite ghost craft ideas in this post as well as details of our free ghost template.

Why use torn paper?

Well firstly it’s a good way of using up old scrap paper, of which we always seem to have tons.

Secondly though, apart from making a nice change from just grabbing the paints, it’s actually a really good activity for fine motor skills.

Tearing paper helps increase the strength in your child’s hands and it’s got a load of other benefits too, if you’d like to read more about it this article on The OT Toolbox is really interesting (and it’s aimed at parents rather than academics so it’s totally readable I promise!)

Grab our free ghost template, you can print as many copies as you like.

How To Make Your Torn Paper Ghost Craft

Print out your ghost template or draw a picture of a ghost onto coloured paper or card. You’ll want coloured rather than plain white for this so that your ghost shows but don’t use black paper or you won’t be able to see the outline of your ghost.

Cover the area of your ghosts body in glue.

Tear your white paper into pieces and then stick these onto your ghost shape. Putting glue on to the ghosts body means that (hopefully!) the paper will stay on the ghost shape rather than floating off elsewhere. You can try tearing large and small bits of paper to fit onto your ghost.

Once your ghost is covered in torn paper draw on eyes and a mouth for it using a black pen. You could add a little speech bubble saying ‘BOO!’ as well if you liked.
