Somehow it doesn’t seem quite right to be sharing apple crafts yet, it’s still summer after all! Yet this week I went on a day out with my kids to a local orchard run by a charity. They had a great time hunting for bugs, counting butterflies and eating blackberries and windfall apples there. So maybe it is apple season already?! This week I’m sharing some paper cup crafts along with some of my fellow bloggers and after we came home I did two little apple themed crafts with my kids, the first one of these is this simple paper cup apple shaker which would be great fun for getting kids to make some noise at a Harvest Festival (Harvest Festival talk already?! Woah, let’s get on with the craft…!)

What You'll Find on This Page
You will need
Two paper cups
Rice or pasta (my son chose rice)
How to make your apple shaker
This is such a simple craft to make and yet it can give lots of fun as your kids can make lots of noise with it when it’s done! My son poured some rice into one of the cups and then I sealed the other cup on top of it using a hot glue gun. I must admit that I’m not always a huge fan of hot glue guns but in kids crafts they can really come into their own, if you used superglue for this you’d have to wait ages for it to dry but hot glue dries quickly (sometimes to quickly, you need to work fast!) which means your kids can play with it almost instantly.
We cut out some leaves from green paper with a little bit of paper in-between, this gives a bit of room for gluing it onto the top of your apple shaker without loosing the shape of the leaves at all.
And you’re done! Go make some noise and don’t be scared to welcome apple season in!

This is so sweet – I love the paper cups anyway, they’re so pretty – but to turn them into a shaker is inspired! x
