Upcycled Jam Jars

Updated on 4th December 2014 by Kate Williams | 6 Comments

Oh this week has been a whatsit, it really has. And when things get bad there’s only one thing to do, and that’s to drink lots of wine. But when its still morning and you can’t really get away with that there’s the other option which is cracking out the spray paint. Because spray paint makes everything better, right? So get here’s some upcycled jam jars, because when the going gets tough, the tough get crafting.

upcycled jam jarsMaking these babies is easy, you just need some clean jam jars, white spray paint and some bakers twine. Both the paint and twine are from Wilkinsons and were nice and cheap.

Pop your jars on some newspaper and spray, really the garden is best for this as you don’t want to be breathing it in. Do this in thin layers or it will drip.

It takes about 45 minutes to dry to touch (I have zero patience for fully dry, especially as I had to do the playgroup run) and then you’re ready to wrap some bakers twine round it and tie into a bow.

There are loads of things you can now use your lovely storage jars for!

Upcycled Jam Jar Craft ideasI’ve used one for popping some stationary in which I think looks super cute and the other is a vase.

What would you use upcycled jam jars for?

Oh wow- so striking. I love them with the baker’s twine: perfect for our summer house. I’ll just have to rescue a few jars from the recycling first!
