Earlier this month I was challenged by A Space to create a Christmas decoration for my children’s bedroom. I love decorating the kids rooms at Christmas time as it helps get them all excited about the big day, although arguably my kids don’t need that much encouragement! At first I thought about making some bunting for my daughters room but after a bit I realised that this probably wasn’t the best idea as I would spend all evening panicking that she had wrapped herself up in it. Instead I opted to make these pretty white clay ornaments which are now on the end of her cot. Not only are these super easy to make and personalise but apart from waiting for the clay to dry they are super quick to do too so they’re a great way to bring a bit of festive cheer to your kids rooms. I’ve included some tips below to make these as easily as possible and I’d love to hear if you try these at home!

Scissor Skills Christmas Tree Craft
Hopefully on the final day of poorly kids today as they have been climbing the walls! When things get a bit frantic I know that Christmas crafts are a great way to calm my two down and the Christmas tree craft is great as not only was it fun to make but it helps improve scissor skills too. Add some stickers for supporting their fine motor skills and suddenly you have a cute Christmas tree craft that’s pretty educational too, wow, how did that happen?! And the kids didn’t notice either, they were far too busy having fun.
Candy Cane Crafts and Activities
It’s that time of year when candy canes are starting to fill the shops and so candy cane crafts and activities are totally on my kids radar. Their idea of candy cane crafts is more likely to be the alleged craft of eating them while mine is more likely to include some glue or pipe cleaners but hey at least we’re all vaguely thinking about the same thing?! If your looking for some candy cane activities to keep your kids busy then there should be loads in here to get you inspired, from arts and crafts to sensory play, maths and some science. As for eating them? I’m saving myself for the chocolate tree decorations!

Christmas Lantern Craft for Toddlers
I adore Christmas lanterns, their soft glow cheers up the room on a darkened evening or they look lovely in a windowsill making your home look even more inviting as you get closer. But a toddler friendly Christmas lantern? My four year old son and I made traditional glass lanterns last week and my toddler joined in but….oh man she just hates the feel of glue. Really hates that stuff, and you could tell she really wanted to craft with us and she gave it a good shot but it just wasn’t the greatest thing for her. We love making crafts for toddlers though so once we’d put away all the totally non-toddler friendly stuff I started thinking about how we could make this classic Christmas craft into something she could do too and this is what I came up with!
