This is a snowman paper plate craft with a difference – it moves and dances around! This fun snowman puppet craft is easy to make and it looks super cute too. It’s the sister craft to the movable penguin paper plate craft I shared a couple of weeks ago and it would be great fun to mix them up too for a fun little winter puppet show.
Movable Snowman Paper Plate Craft Materials
Paper plate
Craft stick / popsicle stick
Blue paint
Snowflake stickers
Scissors
Selotape
White card
Felt tip pens
Lets make it
Start by painting the top half of your paper plate blue, as a parent this might not be your favourite tip you’ll ever get from me but I actually find the paint goes on much better (and dries quicker) if you paint with a finger rather than a paint brush – feel free to ignore that tip though!
While your paint is drying draw a snowman on some white card, card works much better than paper as paper can get a bit floppy – no good for making a puppet with! Cut your snowman out and stick it to a craft stick using some selotape.
One the paint on your paper plate is dry add some snowflake stickers and cut a line through the middle of the paper plate making sure that it doesn’t reach either side (you don’t want to cut your paper plate in half) I find it’s best and much safer if we stick the scissors through the paper plate into some play dough or kinetic sand.
You can now push your snowman puppet into your paper plate and your craft is ready to play with! If you like this snowman paper plate craft don’t forget to pin the image at the bottom of this post or bookmark it so that you have this idea to hand when you need it. If you’d like to try some more snowman activities with your kids how about this sensory bottle from Little Bins for Little Hands or this expanding snowman from The Science Kiddo?
We’ve got loads more ideas for winter paper plate crafts to do with the kids, why not try out this snowflake paper plate twirler which looks great hanging up.
And of course don’t forget our little penguin paper plate craft which is super cute!
Finally these paper plate polar bears were a huge hit with my kids.
Such a fun winter craft for kids to do. We didn’t get any snow this winter (yet!) so a snowy craft would be great to do with the kids.
These are cute – I really like the one with the penguins!
