We’ve officially reached that time of year when all my kids want to do is Christmas crafts and these sweet scrunched paper Christmas trees were perfect as it was something both my three year old and my six year old could enjoy. Tissue paper makes for a lovely sensory craft too with its noise and the feeling itself of scrunching itself and this simple craft is great for helping with fine motor skills too.

Making our Christmas Trees
Where we currently live I don’t have much access to craft shops which means my ideas will often come much quicker than any supplies I need! When I thought up this craft I didn’t have any green card so instead I cut some Christmas tree shapes out of a cardboard box and painted them green. If you are more organised than me then card will obviously be quicker to do, but the painted version worked just as well.
Once your tree shapes are ready get your kids to make some glue dots on the tree and then you are ready too add your ‘baubles’.
Tearing and scrunching the tissue paper is great for fine motor skills and having a variety of colours meant that we could discuss those as well, if you want a colour of tissue paper passed to you you have to use the correct name for it!
At six years old my sons ‘baubles’ were generally quite small, mine were a bit more uniform (which you’d kinda expect as I’m in my 30’s) and at three years old my daughters started off quite small but then she just really wanted to cover all her tree so they got a little more flamboyant. All of them looked super cute!
Out now! Countdown to Christmas e-book
Got tons of ideas then realised you don’t have all the materials or ingredients? I’ve totally been there too which is why I’m so excited about the Countdown to Christmas ebook which is written by my friend Cerys from Rainy Day Mum. Produced as a pdf that you can download to read or print it’s got everything you need in one place to make this Christmas with your kids one that will produce magical memories for years to come.
