Pinecone Template
My kids have always been fascinated by pinecones, they’re one of those things that kids often pick up on walks and hikes and we have a couple permanently on display at home – one picked up on a family holiday and another that my son covered in glue and glitter at a playgroup once.
Pinecones themselves are often used for kids crafts, cut out some cardstock or felt and you can turn them into hedgehogs, foxes or owls. If you’d like to create a paper pinecone craft though then our template is perfect and you could also use it for part of a display on a bulletin board.
Pinecone Craft and Activity Ideas
Coloring – Grab crayons, markers and coloring pencils to color in your pinecone.
Painting With Pinecones – We’ve tried painting with pinecones and painting using acorns before both of which were good fun. You could use this template instead of the ones that we’ve used in those activities.
Collage – tear or cut materials to make a collage on your pinecone outline. You could use natural materials like leaves and bark or try recycled materials like scrap paper, cardstock and old magazines.
More Nature Themed Crafts
Using natural materials for kids crafts and activities is a great way for them to get hands on with these materials and it’s also a really cheap way for you to get creative too – no expensive items bought online if you can just grab them from your garden!
We share a lot of free printable templates for kids crafts and activities because they’re perfect for helping you set up an activity quickly and they’re also really helpful if you’re not super confident about your artistic skills – I know my kids have certainly commented on mine before!
This nature tree craft was inspired by my daughter and uses our tree template. We made this one during summer when there were a lot of flowers around but you could create it during any season as a way of highlighting what is available at that time of year.
Freezing items is something that’s forever popular in our house and this frozen flowers activity is one that looks super pretty too.
I love this cute leaf fox craft and it’s a good way to practice cutting skills or tearing too.
