Hot Air Balloon Template
There’s something about hot air balloons that seems almost magical, many of us have seen them from a distance but not that many will have had the chance to ever go up in one – it’s not exactly the same as the cars, bikes and vans that you see on the school run!
This printable template is perfect for encouraging your kids creativity and with older kids you could also use it as a writing prompt too.
There are two designs available to grab, the first is a basic hot air balloon outline showing the balloon itself and the basket underneath it while the second design also shows some more details on the balloon.
Hot Air Balloon Craft Ideas
Coloring – We love coloring as a simple activity to set up and these printables make fantastic hot air balloon coloring pages. Just print your favorite design onto white paper and grab your markers, coloring pencils and crayons.
Paper Plate Hot Air Balloon – If you want to make a simple paper plate hot air balloon craft then using this template makes it super easy. Color in your hot air balloon outline and then carefully cut it out using scissors. Either grab a blue paper plate or color a white paper plate blue and then glue your paper hot ait balloon onto it to show it flying through the sky. I love that this doesn’t have to be totally on centre either as it looks great that the balloon is flying away! You could embellish this by drawing some birds onto your paper plate using a black marker pen or gluing on some cotton wool balls to make clouds.
Paper Mosaic – Paper mosaics are a really easy craft to make and they’re a great way to practice scissor skills too. Simply cut some squares and rectangles out of colored paper or construction paper and then glue them onto the balloon part of your template.
Resist Art – If you haven’t tried resist art before then this art project could be a really fun way to start! Cut out your hot air balloon outline and then place it onto some colored paper or cardstock before using paint to color all around it. White and blue paint would be especially good for this to represent the sky and clouds. If you’d like more details on how to create resist art then check out our fish art tutorial which has step by step instructions.
