Free Printable Kings Coronation Craft
This fun activity is perfect for making with kids in preschools and classrooms in the lead up to Coronation Day or just as something to keep your kids busy at home while you take five minutes to drink a very British cup of tea.
Plus they can play with it during the ceremony itself or at any celebrations that you go to.
One one side of the wand you’ll find the Union Jack flag while the other side states ‘King Charles III Coronation 6th May 2023’ and has a picture of a crown.
When Is The Kings Coronation?
The Coronation of King Charles III will be taking place on Saturday 6th May at Westminster Abbey in London.
The Royal Family are encouraging everyone to take part in the Coronation Big Lunch afterwards and share in the celebrations with their neighbours and local community.
There will also be a Bank Holiday on Monday 8th May so there’s plenty of time to get involved in the festivities and make and play with your Coronation wand craft!
Craft Supplies
- Coronation wand template printed onto cardstock
- Colouring pencils, crayons or felt tip pens
- Scissors
- Paper straw or wooden dowel
- Tape / double sided tape
How To Make Your Coronation Wand Craft
Star by printing your wand template onto thick paper or cardstock, this will help ensure that it keeps its wand shape and is more durable when your child plays with it.
Next it’s time to decorate it so grab your felt tip pens, crayons or colouring pencils and colour in the design. If you want to go extra you could add some glitter glue too.
Now carefully cut your star shapes out using scissors and use tape to attach your paper straw or dowel to the back of one of the stars.
If you want to you could also stick some strips of red, white and blue ribbon to the inside of your craft to make streamers or you could tie some in a bow around the stick.
Finally you’ll need to stick the second star shape onto the back of the first, making sure that your coloured in flag and crown are both facing the outside. For this I recommend using double sided tape rather than PVA glue or a glue stick as it will hold the two pieces in place more strongly.
Don’t worry, you’ll find the instructions for this craft on the PDF file too!
