Every year I like to do a bit of Christmas crafting and one thing that appears to have become a bit of a tradition is that I always write a little tutorial on here on how to make a Christmas Wreath. They’ve changed from the natural Christmas wreath I made while slightly intoxicated at the Church Christmas do (oops!) to the super quick Christmas wreath I made last year and now I’m sharing a quick tutorial for an embroidery hoop wreath I made yesterday. I think this is my favourite so far!
Materials:
Embroidery hoop
Thread
Scissors
Foliage (mine is a bit cut from our Christmas tree)
How to make an embroidery hoop wreath:
My first bit of advice would be to only cut the foliage you need as you require it. I arguably cut a bit too much from our tree and while it doesn’t show at all I still feel a bit guilty!
Place one bit of foilage at the bottom middle of your embroidery hoop and tie in place with your thread. I wound each bit around three times and secured it with a triple knot.
Secure your branches at various points to keep them in place and then do the same thing to your foliage on the other side of your embroidery hoop.
Of course you could keep going all the way around your hoop but I think that leaving part of it uncovered gives it a bit of vintage and crafty charm!
My embroidery hoop wreath is currently hanging in my front room and even my son has approved of it – high praise indeed!!
That’s so sweet but effective. I made a natural wreath today too, they are a really lovely decoration at this time of year.
such a beautiful wreath!
