Autumn and Halloween

Cotton Bud Apple Tree Craft

Updated on 1st October 2016 by Kate Williams | 2 Comments

Recently I’ve really been struggling to write any craft posts. I think it’s a combination of moving into a new house that I have The Fear about getting covered in  the normal mess of paint, glue and glitter and living in a new area means we have been going out and exploring a lot more instead. The slow shift towards autumn is always fun to celebrate though so we’re back on track a bit with this sweet cotton bud apple tree craft that’s a great way to support fine motor skills too.

How to make Ghosthunters Inspired Spooky Biscuits

26th October 2015 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

With half term and the clock change over the weekend I ended up spending today stuck indoors with two kids, one of which had so little sleep last night that he could barely manage to play. What to do?! Thankfully both my kids are Halloween mad at the moment so we made these fun ghost biscuits inspired by the film Ghosthunters, perfect for a family film night snack this Halloween!

Stained Glass Frankenstein Suncatcher

Updated on 11th September 2023 by Kate Williams | 2 Comments

We love making Halloween suncatchers. My son made this cool stained glass pumpkin suncatcher last year and this week I’ve been sharing some more suncatcher ideas over on the Edplace blog. There’s only one problem with this though. The toddler, she really, really does not like to be left out. It gets loud. So I’m thinking that maybe as we’re still reading Fox’s Socks she might not quite be ready for Mary Shelly’s novel, but this fun stained glass frankenstein suncatcher was a good way to introduce mixing colours and it was a whole heap of fun too.

Paint Chip Puzzles + Halloween Activities for Toddlers

Updated on 1st October 2016 by Kate Williams | 2 Comments

I think that these paint chip puzzles might be the cheapest Halloween activity I’ve ever created for my kids? I guess they must be since they pretty much cost me nothing to make! I love Halloween crafting with my kids but at the rate they go through things the cost of doing activities can add up very quickly so it’s nice to throw in something thrifty sometimes! Today I’m sharing how to make these super simple paint chip puzzles as well as some of my favourite Halloween activities for toddlers to help keep the little people in your life busy this October.

Halloween Resist Art for Kids

Updated on 1st October 2016 by Kate Williams | 4 Comments

We are still on the daily countdown to Halloween round ours so yesterday I thought I’d try out something new with the kids and give some resist art a go! These fingerprint Halloween pictures turned out a lot spookier than I originally expected but both my four and two year old adored making them, plus the technique we came up with for creating the pictures helps improve muscle strength in fingers making it great for kids who are learning to write. Also, that bit gave me an excuse for skipping homework last night, sorry teachers, we had some Halloween resist art to make and it couldn’t possibly wait!
