As a mum I make a lot of stuff with my kids, but I do wonder sometimes if I lean too much towards the arts and crafts side of things, heck, I even had to quickly google to see if there’s a difference between engineering and construction for this post. (Don’t tell my Civil Engineer dad!) I love these engineering activities for kids though which I’m hoping will inspire me to do a few more engineering activities at home too!
Loose Parts Play from In The Playroom – such a simple idea that I know kids would love!
Hands On As We Grow made a Rube Goldberg Machine for pouring their cereal which is just too cool, you must check it out!
The Science Kiddo created a foam block challenge that is a great introduction to engineering for kids as the thought of it doesn’t scare me too much!
What cool ideas! Learning through activities and craft is really fun.
Like yourself we mainly focus on arts and crafts but these engineering projects look right up my son’s street. You ve definitely given me some things to think now for our after school activities.
Thanks for hosting, I’ve added a couple of posts, and I follow you on FB, Pinterest, and Twitter! We probably do mostly arts and crafts too, but I think we do the occasional engineering project. I like the loose parts play link, as we did have one long plank we played with in the garden this summer, but I think lots of bits and piece would be even more fun! x
Awesome post! I loved all the simple engineering ideas. Thank you for featuring our foam block engineering challenge 🙂
