Fine Motor Skills Christmas Tree Craft

Updated on 13th December 2017 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

I did this fine motor skills Christmas tree craft with my daughter a few weeks ago but totally forgot to write it up until  today – oops! It’s a really nice craft because it’s easy to set up and you can use it in a few different ways – the Christmas trees  could go on the front of Christmas cards or you could make a few and string them together to make a garland.

Let’s Make it

Start by cutting a Christmas tree shape out of green card, card works much better than paper which tends to go a bit mushy if your kid dollops a lot of paint onto it (and let’s be honest, that tends to happen quite often.) Older kids can cut a shape out themselves while you will probably need to cut the shape out for younger kids.

Squeeze some paint out onto a tray or plate then use your cotton bud to dip into the paint, once it’s loaded with your favourite colours dab it onto the tree to make ‘lights’ or baubles. At just turned four my daughter enjoyed ‘decorating’ the tree as much as doing nice neat lights (one tree is mine and one is  hers) but of  course that’s all part of the fun!

If you like this craft make sure that you bookmark this page or pin the image at the bottom so that you don’t forget to make it. Want more easy Christmas craft ideas for kids? This heart shaped ornament is great for fine motor skills and looks great on the tree too.
