Lava Lamp Experiment for Kids

Updated on 7th December 2019 by Kate Williams | 8 Comments

Last weekend we tried out a really easy lava lamp experiment, both my kids love trying out simple science experiments and ones that make fun things happen are always a winner!

You will need:

A glass

Water

Liquid food colouring

Oil

Fizzing tablet

How to make a DIY lava lamp

So that you can see what happened in our lava lamp experiment I filmed what we did and a little bit about why we chose each materials as well as what not to use (honestly our first attempt was sooooooo dull). It’s well worth a look because it looks much cooler in real life than it does in my pictures!

Love fun science experiments for kids? You need to check this out too!

Don’t forget to pin this so you remember to make it later!

I enjoyed watching your experiment! I have a lava lamp in my bedroom and my son loves to cuddle me whilst we watch it ‘blob’!!

Anything involving ‘slime’ is always very popular in our house, so I bet my two would love this!

Science is everything to Boo at the moment so this would go down a storm in our house…
