Cut and Paste Hedgehog Craft

I love fall crafts and I think that the cooler days and changing colors around us are a great excuse to get creative with your kids.

Woodland, nocturnal or forest animals are always a popular topic at this time of year and hedgehogs are always particularly popular, personally I love them so this cute hedgehog craft was bound to be a winner for me and I hope it is for you too!

More Hedgehog Crafts

If you’re looking for something simple that kids can color then our free printable hedgehog template is perfect for younger kids such as toddlers or preschoolers.

You can also make some easy crafts with it using leaves or craft paper to make the hedgehog’s spikes.

Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cut and Paste Hedgehog Craft PDF
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue (glue stick or PVA / school glue)
  • Coloring materials: crayons, coloring pencils or colored markers

Build a Hedgehog Craft

Start by printing the the PDF file, you can use either normal printer paper or white cardstock for this with the cardstock being a little sturdier but the paper being easier to cut.

Color in all the separate parts of the hedgehog, the grayed in sections will be covered when you make your hedgehog so you don’t need to worry about these.

If you have light brown and dark brown markers or coloring pencils then that can really help although you can also just use pencils lightly or with more pressure to help create different shades.

Using your scissors carefully cut around each of the different parts following the dotted lines.

Glue the hedgehog’s back onto it’s main body and then glue two legs onto the back of the hedgehog’s body so that they are sticking out underneath and two onto the front.

Next, stick on the hedgehog’s eyes, nose and ear and then add the hedgehog’s spikes onto their back.

Should you need them, you’ll also find the basic instructions for this craft on the printable as well as a picture to give you a guide for how your finished craft should look.

More Fall Crafts for Kids

As a mom myself I’m really aware of how expensive it can be to do activities with your kids, one of the reasons I have so many free printables on this site is because of the number of times my kids have looked for something fun to make on Pinterest only for me to realise how much all the craft supplies will cost to purchase!

All of these crafts are made using free printables from this site as well as basic craft supplies like paint or scissors that you probably already own.

This resist art squirrel craft is really good fun to make and if you haven’t tried resist art before it’s a really cool technique to try out.

Apple stamping is a bit of a craft classic and one that I’m sure a lot of kids do in kindergarten or the early years of school.

Here I’ve updated it slightly with this apple painting craft that uses our free apple template.

Finally if you like cut and paste craft then our new build an acorn craft is a great option and perfect for the changing seasons.
