Apple Tree Craft Template
Making apple and apple tree crafts has to be one of my favorite fall activities for kids and using this free printable means that it’s super quick and easy for you to prepare whether you’re at home or in a classroom.
There’s four pages to grab in the PDF file and you can use this either to make an apple tree as seen in the image above complete with lots of apples and a couple of cut animals, or you can also use the extension sheets to turn this into a maths activity, the choice is yours!
Craft Supplies Needed:
- Build an apple tree craft PDF
- White paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Colored pencils, markers or crayons

Build An Apple Tree Craft
Start by printing the PDF file onto white paper or cardstock. If you are just using this activity to build a paper apple tree then you only need to print the first two pages but if you’ll also be doing the maths activities then print all four.
If you are just doing the craft activity then normal white printer paper is fine to print on and it’s what I’ve used.
However if you want to do the maths activities as well then I’d recommend using card stock as it’s a bit sturdier and will be less likely to tear as you use the different numbers with it.
Grab your crayons, coloring pencils or colored markers and color in all the different parts on the pages that you’ve printed out.
I’ve gone for red apples as I think they stand out better on the tree but you can go with green if you prefer.
You don’t need to color the inside of the barrel and obviously you don’t need on any of the pages to color in parts that you won’t be using.
Following the dotted lines on the printables cut out each of the separate parts, again you’ll only need to cut out the different pieces that you’ll be using.

This printable has been designed that if you’d like you can use it again and again, so you’ll find tabs on the bottom of some of the pieces such as the barrel and signs and there’s also lines on the grass hill where you can make an incision to insert these.
This means that if you want to you can swap the different parts around for different activities. If you just want to make this as a simple cut and paste craft then you can cut the tabs off and you don’t need to make the cuts into the hillside.
To build your apple tree start by gluing the tree trunk onto the grass and then glue the tree top onto the top of this.

Make the barrel for your apples by carefully applying a little glue around the edges of the back part and then sticking the front of the apple barrel onto it so that there is a space in the middle.
You can use this to pop your apples in as well as for storage for any of the apples or smaller parts that you aren’t using.

Glue the barrel onto one side of your apple tree and glue the sign onto the other. Don’t forget to add the ‘apples for sale’ or you can use the blank sign to add your own message.

Stick your squirrel and bird onto or around your tree, if at any point you’re not sure where to place any of the items then you can check the little completed picture of the craft in the top corner of the PDF.
Add your apples to the tree and the barrel and your apple tree is complete.

Maths Activity Extension
On the final two pages of the PDF file you’ll find lots of extra apples plus an additional wooden sign and lots of numbers to add if you’d like to turn this into a simple maths or number recognition activity.
All you need to do is color and cut out the different parts you’d like to use, if you want to use the second board then use this to replace the apple barrel.
You can put the maths symbols in the gap in the tree to help set up simple sums, you’ll find a plus, minus, times and division sign.
You can count the numbers of apples, ask your child to add the number of apples to the tree that the board shows or use this to set up some simple sums, whatever works best for you and your child.

More Apple Crafts for Kids
Over the years I’ve shared loads of apple craft ideas with both free resources that you can download and print and hands on activities to try.
This pom pom apple tree is a craft I made with my daughter when she was a preschooler.
I’ve used felt and cardstock as that’s what we had at home but you could easily adapt it to use construction paper or our apple tree template from this post.

On this site you’ll find loads of free printables and cut and paste designs are definitely some of my current favorites.
This build an apple printable is two sided so you can see both what the outside of an apple looks like as well as the core and pips inside it.

Finally I love this apple suncatcher craft and it’s another one that I made with my kids.
It’s great for practicing cutting skills and fine motor skills plus it made a great decoration to put up in our window.
