Build A Sandcastle Craft

To cut a long story short, that we’ve always lived near some kind of beach is how this blog originally got it’s name so it’s no surprise that we’re pretty keen on beach crafts in our house.

Like a lot of families we like to make the most of the good weather in the summer and get outside but there’s lots of times when that’s just not possible or when you need an activity to do at home.

This sandcastle activity is perfect for those days with its cute design still giving the sea, sand and sun vibes that we love without having to carry a bucket and shovel around!

There are two pages to this download with the first one containing all the accessories that you can add to your sandcastle and the second page having the different parts needed to make the sandcastle itself.

If you want to make some sandcastle crafts with your kids but they’re not quite old enough for the scissor skills required for this craft then why not check out our free printable sandcastle temple which has a basic outline that you can use and we’ve shared lots of ideas for crafts and activities you can try using it too.

Craft Supplies Needed

  • Sandcastle craft PDF
  • White paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Coloring materials – colored markers, coloring pencils or crayons

Cut Out Sandcastle Craft

Start by printing out the two pages of the PDF file onto white paper paper or cardstock. Using cardstock means that your craft will be a little more sturdy but generally speaking normal white printer paper is absolutely fine for this kind of craft.

Next grab your coloring materials and color in all the separate parts of the sandcastle and of the decorations that you’ll be using.

You don’t need to color anything you won’t use so for example if you really have a thing against seaweed you can always leave that out.

Likewise, if you are a bit short on time you could always leave the sandcastle itself white rather than coloring it in yellow – in this case your sandcastle is one that you’ve made on one of those gorgeous tropical white sand beaches!

Using your scissors cut out all of the parts of the sandcastle following the dotted lines.

Following the guidelines on the printable glue the turrets onto each side of the base of the sandcastle and then stick the base onto the middle part and glue the middle section onto the top.

If you’re not sure at any point what your paper sandcastle should look like then you can find a little diagram of the finished craft at the top of the first printable.

Now it’s time to decorate so cut out all of your accessories and glue them onto your sandcastle.

You can use as many or as few as you like and where you stick them is up to you so if you want to have your crab helping to hold a flag in place or have your turrets covered in sea stars and seashells then go for it.

More Beach Crafts and Activities

I love paper plate crafts because over the years they’ve often been something that I’ve found lurking at the back of a cupboard left over from kids parties. My favorite craft supplies are definitely the cheap or free ones!

This paper plate beach craft is really easy to make and you could use markers or stickers to add more details to it.

If you’re planning a day out at the seaside then why not grab our beach scavenger hunt?

It’s free to download and kids (and adults!) can color in each item as they find it.

Finally as well as printable crafts you’ll find a lot of free templates on this site which are great for coloring, painting or making some easy crafts with.

This shell suncatcher was made with our shell template and it’s a great craft for displaying and brightening up any room.
