Build A Ladybug Printable

Grab the printable template for this paper ladybug craft and make a cute bug together that you’ll want to display!

You can print as many copies of the PDF file for this craft as you like so as well as being a great option for at home it’s also ideal for classroom use and you could make a gorgeous display with the finished crafts – why not try a few of the other cut out crafts I’ve shared below as well and make a spring, summer or minibeast inspired bulletin board?

As well as the step by step instructions below you’ll also find a small picture of the finished ladybug craft at the top of the printable so that you can refer to it if you need to while you are making your craft.

Craft Supplies

  • Build a ladybug craft PDF
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Coloring materials – crayons, coloring pencils or colored markers
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Cut Out Ladybug Craft

Start by printing your PDF onto white printer paper or cardstock. Plain paper is normally fine for our cut out crafts but if your child is likely to want to play with their ladybug afterwards then it might be a good idea to opt for cardstock or thicker paper instead so that it doesn’t tear.

Color in all the different parts of the craft. You can go with the traditional red ladybug body with black spots but there are lots of different options that you could choose from too and it’s a great opportunity to find out a bit more about these insects.

There’s a great article I found on Animal Spot which shows the different colors of ladybugs which include yellow with black spots and the pink spotted lady beetle which I thought looked very cool!

Of course if you’re not too worried about accuracy then just go with whatever you fancy – if you’d like a purple ladybug with blue glitter then go for it!

Once all the parts have been colored in then follow the dotted lines around each shape and cut them out using your scissors.

Glue the eyes and mouth onto your ladybug’s face and then turn the head over and stick the antennae onto the back. I tend to find that a glue stick is best but school glue (PVA glue) is also fine.

Stick the ladybug’s head onto their main body as shown on the printable and then glue on the spots to their body as well.

Finally turn your ladybug over and stick their legs onto the back of their body.
