How To Display Childrens Christmas Decorations

Updated on 25th June 2021 by Kate Williams | 8 Comments

Like most children his age, The Toddler has been regularly coming home from pre-school with a selection of Christmas pictures and decorations over the last couple of weeks. Which is great and I love that he’s being creative, but I don’t always know what to do with his handmade goodies? So this week I’ve come up with two super easy ways of displaying children’s Christmas decorations and I was so pleased with them I thought I would share them!

These Christmas tree decorations were really cute, but..umm… they didn’t go with my colour scheme on my tree. Sorry son.

I bought some vintage sheet music in a charity shop two weeks ago and used this as a background for a picture frame, putting it in front of the glass. I then changed the string they came home on for some red ribbon and tied a knot at the end of these so that they could be threaded through the picture frame with the knots holding them in place keeping them secure. I’m so pleased with this and it only took me five minutes!

Now, I appreciate that not everyone will have managed to pick vintage sheet music up this week, but you can get some here for free from the Graphics Fairy website. Totally thrifty too!

Next up is an even quicker display.

My son is totally addicted to sticking things. You know the mum at pre-school who always has to carry home six cornflake packets that have been stuck together? That’s me. So getting these festive bits stuck on a bit of card was quite exciting in that I could actually carry it home in my handbag.

All I’ve done is trimmed it to size and popped it in a frame on my mantlepiece alongside some other decorations and boom! Looks great and I’ve managed to display some more of his decorations.

What a great idea! Haven’t had anything home from preschool yet possibly because the boy won’t okay ball on the creative front :-/

What brilliant and simple ideas! Plus they look so beautiful, you have made them works of art instead of preschool offerings.
I love this and will copy! – Watch out for my post on it if it happens 🙂

I say! Everything is looking mighty fine – I’ve found this with my boys stuff, chuck it in a frame and suddenly it looks like something from the Tate Modern. And for a fraction of the price!

I used to have a little washing line up in the sitting room with lovely rainbow pegs and I used to peg all the art work on that – it looked pretty festive (but I kept it up all year round)
