Free Printable Union Jack Craft
This printable craft would be fun to make for any big celebrations but it’s also a nice create to make if you are doing a topic about the United Kingdom.
We’ve tried out some flag crafts previously with our Union Jack template but this wand craft is a fun alternative and can be good for encouraging some imaginative play too!
What Country Uses The Union Jack Flag?
The Union Jack (also known as the Union Flag) is the flag of the United Kingdom – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Craft Supplies
- Wand craft PDF printed onto paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Tape
- Felt tip pens, crayons or colouring pencils
- Paper straw or wooden dowel
- Optional – ribbons
How To Make Your Union Jack Wand Craft
Begin by printing your wand template onto thick paper or cardstock. You can use printer paper for this is that’s all you have available but using cardstock this will help make sure that the wand keeps its shape and is more durable when your child plays with it.
Next up you need to decorate your Union Jack flags so grab red and blue felt tip pens, crayons or colouring pencils to colour in the design.
Now carefully cut your star shapes out using scissors and use tape to attach your paper straw or dowel to the back of one of the stars.
I recommend using sticky tape for sticking the pole down and using double sided tape for sticking the two sides of the star together rather than using PVA glue or a glue stick. This is because the tape not only holds things in place instantly (always helpful with kids crafts) but it’s also far better than glue for dealing with the shape of your straw or stick.
If you want to you could also stick some strips of red, white and blue ribbon to the inside of your craft to make streamers or you could tie some in a bow around the stick.
