What Should I Print My 3D Fireworks Craft On?
For this craft I would recommend that you print your template onto either thick paper or cardstock. You can use normal printer paper but it might fall over!
How To Make Your Firework Craft
First print the two parts of your template out, you will need both a front and back and you can choose if you want a message on your craft or not.
Next color in both parts of the template using markers, coloring pencils or crayons. I’ve chosen red, blue and yellow for my fireworks but you can choose whatever colors you like.
I find for me that it’s easier to color if I use the lighter colors of the fireworks first and then add the black around them afterwards.
If you’d like to add a nice sparkly touch to it you could use metallic markers or glitter glue for the fireworks.
Next you will need to cut out both parts of your craft using scissors. Make sure when you do this that you don’t cut the tabs off.
Fold the tabs so that they can join together and then stick them. Tab A1 connects with tab A2 and B1 with B2.
Obviously at this point even though I decided that I wasn’t going to color everything in for this tutorial (because I wanted people to see the PDF is in black and white) I decided I actually really, really wanted to color in some more.
Of course that also meant my green marker started running out so that’ll teach me!
I’ve used double sided tape to stick my fireworks craft together, this is because it will hold it in place instantly and you don’t need to worry about the two parts separating (as can happen sometimes with glue) however the tape will stick instantly so do make sure that you have it in the correct place.
Your fireworks craft is now ready to display!
How To Adapt This Craft
If your kids don’t want to color the whole of the fireworks drawing you could print it out onto blue paper and color the fireworks in using glitter glue or chalk pens.
Make sure that your colored paper isn’t too dark though because otherwise you won’t be able to see the outline of the fireworks.
You will also need to be mindful that any markers you use will show on the colored paper which I why I would suggest trying chalk pens which normally have a better coverage.
