Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt
We love scavenger hunts, they’re a great activity for adding an extra bit of fun to an occasion and to get your kids to notice all the things around them.
This printable scavenger hunt is designed to be colored in as you find each item making it great for kids and family members of all ages as older kids and grown ups will be able to read the name of each item while younger kids will be able to recognise the pictures.
My kids love these cute designs and they’re a great way as well to make sure that you activity lasts for a little while, as a parent I know what it’s like to prepare something that’s over in thirty seconds!
Being free is always helpful too, so many things for kids can be expensive too or at least build up financially over time so I always like to find some free activities for Valentines Day and throughout the year that I can do with my kids without it breaking the bank.
What Is A Scavenger Hunt?
At it’s most basic a scavenger hunt is a list of items to find. You can either do this as clues, riddles or to make things easier for children a simple list we we have here.
You do these individually with each participant having a copy of the sheet or as a group activity with each group being given a separate printable to complete.
You can do a scavenger hunt as a competition and even give out a prize or special treat at the end of the hunt or just do them for fun, they’re a great way to keep kids busy and so much fun too!
This Valentines scavenger hunt has a picture for each item listed so that you can color them in as you find them if you like.
Where Can You Do A Valentines Day Scavenger Hunt?
Scavenger hunts are really adaptable and we think they make really fun activities for kids.
You can use them at home, for a play date or as an excuse to make a trip out a bit more fun.
You can also use them in a preschool or classroom for a school party as a way of getting kids to hunt for things on bulletin boards, on cards and on any decorations that you have up.
We’ve also done scavenger hunts online with friends before so as long as you both have a copy of this sheet you could even try to do this for a virtual Valentine’s Day party!
Do You Need To Find All The Items On A Scavenger Hunt?
It really depends on how you are doing your hunt.
As a rule, unless you have planned to have all the items listed as able to find then it’s likely that you won’t find them all, and that’s ok!
If you are doing this with groups of children then you might want to choose the ‘winning’ group to be the one that finds the most items.
Depending on the age of your children though they might just be happy to look and see what they can find.
If you are doing this activity with a group then you might want to give them a set amount of time for finding as many items as they can.
With my own kids they generally have a sheet each but they’ll also show each other what they’ve found and work as a bit of a team. As usual, go with what works best for you and your family.
