We’ve shared a lot of crafts for toddlers over the years and these stained glass Christmas lanterns were one that my daughter really enjoyed making although of course you could make this with older kids too. We’ve made these as a simple Christmas craft but you could easily change the colours up and use them as a winter craft or for celebrating the winter solstice or Diwali. It’s a great craft for fine motor skills too and one that makes a lovely kid made decoration to have around the house!

I adore Christmas lanterns, their soft glow cheers up the room on a darkened evening or they look lovely in a windowsill making your home look even more inviting as you get closer. But a toddler friendly Christmas lantern? My four year old son and I made traditional glass lanterns last week and my toddler joined in but….oh man she just hates the feel of glue. Really hates that stuff, and you could tell she really wanted to craft with us and she gave it a good shot but it just wasn’t the greatest thing for her. We love making crafts for toddlers though so once we’d put away all the totally non-toddler friendly stuff I started thinking about how we could make this classic Christmas craft into something she could do too and this is what I came up with!

This weekend was a busy weekend in the Crafts on Sea household as it marked my daughters second birthday! I’m not sure quite how she’s two already since I’m sure I only gave birth to her a few weeks back (that’s sleep deprivation for you) but apparently it’s true. One is a lovely age, learning and discovering and hopefully without too many meltdowns! As my son spent more time at playgroup and then school I had a lot of time on my own with this little one so I was always on the lookout for activities for one year olds that would keep us both entertained.
