Advert. Do your kids love Christmas stories? Mine do, to the extent that we’ve been reading them since August in the build up to the big day! I love adding a new book or two to our collection every year so when Macmillan Children’s Books asked if I’d be interested in taking a peek at How Winston Delivered Christmas and trying out the stained glass window biscuits I had to have a look.¬†How Winston Delivered Christmas is no ordinary Christmas book though, it’s a book that will help you build new family traditions and keep your kids entertained for all of December in the run up to Christmas.

Ever had a friend people didn’t approve of? I’m so excited to be working with Two Hoots to share a craft with you today for Cyril and Pat, the gorgeous new book from CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal winner Emily Gravett. My kids have asked me to read this story again and again since we received it, and they made their own versions of this craft too – a fun Cyril and Pat rat and squirrel toilet roll craft.

We love Julia Donaldson books and today I’m sharing our favourite The Snail and The Whale craft ideas and activities to make and do alongside reading the book. There’s lots of inspiration here with everything from sensory play to teaching ideas and from paper plate crafts and origami to measuring activities, reading worksheets and process art – tons of fun ideas!

Have you read The Scarecrows Wedding? It’s one of my favourite Julia Donaldson books and is perfect if your kids are learning about farms, harvest or just if you like activities for kids books! This paper bag puppet is easy for kids to make to act out the story with – or create a new adventure – and today I’m sharing a little video tutorial as well to help you see how easy these are to make.

I love activities that you can do alongside kids favourite books and these If You Give A Mouse A Cookie activities are all fantastic! The book itself is a classic with sixteen further books in the the series but of course you can’t beat the original! With maths games, sensory bottles and puppets these would make great If You Give A Mouse A Cookie activities for preschool but there’s plenty of fun ideas that older kids will enjoy too.
