This free download is a great way to help kids learn the order of the planets and their names and also includes the sun and an asteroid belt.
As well as pictures of each of the planets to color and cut out you’ll also find facts about each of them to read and learn together.

Free Solar System Cut and Paste Activity
In the PDF file you’ll find three pages ready for you to download and print. The first page includes pictures of each of the planets in our solar system, a picture of the asteroid belt and some facts about all of these to help support your child’s learning. For example, did you know that Saturn has over 270 moons and sunsets on Mars appear blue?!
The second and third pages are your background sheets where you’ll be adding your colored in planets. Both pages include a picture of the sun while the third page also lists the planets in order to help ensure your child sticks them on in the correct order.
How to Use This Solar System Cut and Paste Craft
What You’ll Need:
- Cut and paste solar system PDF
- Coloring pencils or markers
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions:
Print out two pages from the PDF file, you’ll need the first page which has pictures of each of the planets and the asteroid belt but then you can choose if you would rather have the background page with or without the planet’s names on it.
Color in all of the planets and the asteroid belt. You may also want to color in your background scene page which includes the sun.
Cut out all of the items on the planet page using scissors. You’ll find a dotted line around each item to help guide you.
Glue your planets and the asteroid belt onto your background sheet to complete your picture of the solar system.

- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Instructions
- Print the planet page and one of the background pages onto white printer paper or cardstock.
- Color in both pages.
- Cut out the planets and the asteroid belt.
- Glue the planets and asteroid belt into place on your space background page.
