Advert. Whether you’re holidaying abroad this year, having a staycation or just hoping for some weather good enough to justify getting the barbeque out, there’s one thing that’s true for all holidays with your kids – you want to have fun together and you want to make some great memories!
One of the ways that I find really helps to document our holidays is taking photos and it’s something that my kids love doing too, I think they started trying to join in with taking pictures when they were toddlers and now that I have tweens they’ve got even more interested.
We’ve been making the most of some typical British weather during the holidays to try out a photo scavenger hunt and using our new Instax camera meant that not only did we have fun and get some great pictures, we actually have some prints to display too!

Holiday Photo Scavenger Hunt
A couple of weeks ago Very challenged us to try out one of their cameras and we opted for the gorgeous blue Instax that you can see in these pictures.
Here in Cornwall the weather during the Easter holidays was pretty hit and miss, but we still wanted to make the most of it and make sure that we had fun together. You may notice that both sunglasses and coats were needed!
Trying out this holiday photo scavenger hunt gave us the excuse to get out and have fun and I’ve included vacation friendly prompts that I knew my kids would enjoy – making silly faces, getting an ice cream and looking for a great view.
If you’ve got a holiday abroad or in a new city planned then photo scavenger hunt’s like these are a fun way to record your adventure but likewise if you’re staying at home they’re perfect for getting you to look at your hometown in a different way.
Why I Love Instax Cameras
You guys know that there’s not many things I really recommend on this site, instead I tend to opt for a rummage round the recycling bin or at the back of your craft draw, however hand on heart instant cameras are something that my family and I really love, here’s why:
Last year we went to Disney as a big, post pandemic family holiday. It was great and we took loads of photos, my kids did too snapping away at their camera phones.
Do you know how many of those photos got printed?
None. Like, literally zero. We went on the holiday of a lifetime and a year later I still haven’t printed a single thing out. In fact, I downloaded them all to my computer and then that broke and I lost most of them. This was not my greatest move.
By comparison the photos that we’ve taken on an Instax camera really are looked at.
We have a family selfie we took propped up on the mantelpiece in our dining room. My kids have their photos up in their rooms where they show their friends and they look at them all the time.
That’s why I love these cameras. They’re fun, easy to use and most importantly you know you’re actually going to get that picture printed, after all it pops out of the camera within a few seconds!

Nope! As with everything you never know exactly what you’ll find and the most important thing is to have fun with these photo scavenger hunt ideas rather than worrying because you can’t find any cute animals.
If you wanted to then as a family you could have some kind of prize for the person who manages to get the most pics but generally I think it’s just nice to have something to display or put in photo albums.
