28th August 2026 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

Create a low-prep fun fall craft with our fall leaves cut and paste craft featuring a child jumping in a pile of fall leaves.

Fall brings gorgeous changes in color and this craft is inspired by one of our favourite things about the season, getting outdoors and jumping in piles of fallen leaves.

Our free printable template includes three options with a boy, a girl and a customizable picture of a child where you can draw your own hair, eyes, nose and mouth.

About This Fall Leaves Craft

I love fall and one of the things I enjoy most is just getting outdoors with my kids and enjoying the change in season, stomping through fallen leaves and noticing the change in colors.

This fall leaves craft is inspired by playing outdoors and jumping in piles of leaves, something that I think most kids do at some point and it’s a fun way to bring the excitement of outdoors back inside when you want something easy and creative to do at home.

As well as being free to download, you can print this template as many times as you like so it’s a great option for classroom use too (and libraries! I love how many librarians use our designs.)

You’ll find three options of kids to color and I’ve also shared some simple ideas below of ways that you can adapt this craft.

What’s Included in the Fall Leaves Printable

Download our printable and you’ll find four pages in the PDF file all designed in black and white for kids to color in.

The first page contains all of the leaf outlines. You’ll find loads of different leaf designs all with a dotted line around them to help you cut them out.

The second page is an outline of a boy jumping in the air and the third page shows a girl jumping.

The fourth page has an outline of a child’s body but we’ve left the features blank so that you can draw the hair, eyes, nose and mouth yourself and design your own character.

Supplies Needed

  • Fall leaves cut and paste printable
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Colored markers, pencils or crayons

How To Make Your Fall Leaves Craft

Start by choosing which of the outlines of kids jumping you wish to use and then print that and the page of fall leaves. You can use normal white printer paper, as I have, or if you want your craft to be a bit more durable then you might want to choose cardstock instead.

Color in all of the leaves and the picture of a child jumping.

If you are designing your own kid jumping in leaves then make sure that you draw in their eyes, nose and mouth as well as drawing their hair. You could even add a hat to keep them warm!

If you want to go a bit extra you could also draw a background to this picture, maybe adding trees or fields.

Cut out all of the leaf shapes following the dotted lines around them for guidance.

Add a bit of glue to your leaves and then use them to form a pile of leaves below the picture of a child for them to jump in.

You can also add some leaves into the picture around the child, they could be throwing leaves in the air or the leaves could be tossed into the air when the kid jumps in the leaves!

While you’ll find a picture for guidance on our printable of what your finished craft might look like, one of the things I love about this activity is that there’s no correct place to stick your fall leaves, who knows where they will go when you jump in a leaf pile?

Ways To Adapt Your Craft

Instead of using our cut out fall leaves you could use this activity as an excuse to get outdoors and go outside to gather some real fall leaves to stick onto your printable.

As well as our printable which helps you to design your own child jumping in fall leaves you could instead do a mini photo shoot of yourself jumping and print this onto paper before cutting out and sticking on our paper fall leaves into a pile around you.
