Build A Shark Craft
Did you know the collective term for a group of sharks is a shiver? I have to admit that I only found it out when I was writing this craft up but to be honest that’s one of my favorite things about sharks, they’re really interesting creatures and I think that they’re ones that kids genuinely like learning more about too.
I’m a great believer that if you want kids to do any kind of art of craft then it’s a lot easier for everyone involved if it’s linked to something they’re interested in so for me a shark craft is a great choice for kids.
As it’s a cut and paste craft it’s also a great way for kids to practice their scissor skills too.
Craft Supplies Needed:
- Build a shark PDF
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Cut and Paste Shark
Start by printing out the PDF file, either normal white printer paper or white cardstock are fine for this craft but if your child is likely to want to play with their shark afterwards then I’d opt for cardstock as it’s a bit more durable.
Next grab your colored markers or coloring pencils and color in each part of the shark.
Using your scissors now cut out each part of the craft, you’ll find a dotted line around each part to help guide you.
Now it’s time to stick the parts together. Glue the sharks belly onto the main body and glue it’s teeth to the top and bottom of your shark’s mouth.
There are three different fins to glue onto your shark. The dorsal fin goes at the top, the pectoral fin goes at the side and the caudal fin goes at the end of your shar’s tail. If you’re worried about getting things in the wrong place then don’t forget that you can find an illustration of what the finished craft should look like in the top right of the PDF page.
Finally all you need to do is glue on your shark’s gills and eye to complete your craft.
