Free Nativity I Spy Printable

The Christmas season is definitely the busiest time of year in our household and I’m pretty certain that it’s the same for a lot of other families too.

While I love to see my kids getting excited and enthusiastic for things I’m also very aware that they need some time to relax and calm down too and this is where our I Spy printables come in!

Our color and count designs are perfect for keeping with whatever theme your kids are interested in while allowing them to sit down and have some calm, screen free time. They can also help support your child with counting and observation skills.

Our free printable nativity I Spy worksheet would be great for coloring on a cosy afternoon at home but it’s also a perfect low-prep Sunday school Christmas activity or you can use it as a fun way to support learning about the nativity in classrooms.

What Nativity Items Can Kids Find?

  • Gold, frankincense and myrrh
  • Mary and Joseph
  • Star
  • Angel
  • Sheep
  • Stable
  • Baby Jesus
  • Palm tree
  • Manger
  • Donkey
  • Bethlehem
  • Camel

What’s Included in the Free Printable PDF?

Our printable PDF contains three pages for you to download.

The first is a black and white version of our nativity worksheet for kids. This design is perfect for people who are trying not to use too much colored ink so it’s a great option for classroom use, libraries and Sunday schools.

Our second design shows the same nativity counting activity but with a little more color, you’ll see that the borders and the pictures at the bottom of the sheet are colored in.

The third page is a colored in answer sheet so that you can see what the finished design should look like and this page also has the answer key filled in at the bottom of the sheet for you.

  • Colored markers or colored pencils

How To Use This Nativity I Spy Printable

This printable is super easy for you to use, just choose the design that you want and print as many copies as you need.

Choose one of the nativity themed items to start with such as the star and color all of these in, count up the number of them that you colored in and write the amount in the corresponding box at the bottom of the page.

Do this for each of the items until all of the items on the worksheet are colored in and counted.

Ideas for Sunday School and Classroom Use

You could use this nativity worksheet after reading the Christmas story to help children learn the different characters, it could be used as a quiet time activity or as an activity for early-finishers or you could use it as a way to open discussions about the nativity such as how do you think Mary felt?

Ways to Simplify for Younger Children

If coloring in every item on this printable is a bit much for your child then by all means skip that and just count the nativity pictures instead. Likewise if your kid enjoys coloring but needs a bit of help with counting then you can give them a hand with that.
