Build A Mermaid
I’m not afraid to say that I absolutely love mermaids, as a kid I watched The Little Mermaid about a million times and there’s something so special and magical about them.
I know my daughter defiantly played at being a mermaid in the pool or sea when she was younger and I think that there’s something about these mythical creatures that really sparks kids imaginations and creativity.
Our mermaid craft is a great way for kids to practice their coloring and scissor skills and while I’ve stuck to basic colors this would be a great craft for grabbing any metallic pens or glitter glue that you might have at home.
You can also print as many copies as you like so it’s perfect for classroom use or as an activity for a mermaid themed party.

Craft Supplies Needed
- Mermaid craft PDF
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colored markers, coloring pencils or crayons
Cut and Paste Mermaid Craft
Start by printing out the PDF file. I’ve used normal white printer paper but if you want to play with your mermaid then you might want to opt for cardstock instead as it’s a little more sturdy.

Now it’s time to color in your mermaid as well as her accessories, the ocean animals with her and the rock that she’ll be sitting on.

Grab your scissors and cut all of the separate mermaid parts and items out from your sheet. You’ll see that there’s a dotted line around each thing to help guide you.
Start making your mermaid by gluing her face onto her hair and then sticking her head onto her neck. Glue the tail fin onto her tail and then stick the completed tail onto her body.

Add her seashell top and then you can also add a hair accessory or two if you would like.

Stick the waves to the bottom of your mermaid’s rock and then add a little glue to the back of your mermaid’s tail so that you can glue her so that she’s sitting on it.
For the final touch add your sea star and fish to finish your scene.
