Ice Skates Template
Ice skates and ice skating are pretty iconic when it comes to winter and winter sports. Who hasn’t dreamed of gliding round a rink on skates at some point, even if you’re a bit more like me and struggle to let go of the hand rail!
The PDF pack for this template contains eight different designs for you to choose from so you can pick the ones that’s right for your child and for the activity that you have planned.
There are four designs showing one ice skate and four that show two ice skates together. Each of the four has a little more detail from a basic outline to designs showing laces and a snowflake design on the side.
Ice Skate Craft Ideas
Coloring
There are so many different designs in this pack that they’d be great to use as ice skate coloring pages.
It’s a quick low-prep activity and most of us have coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons available at home so it’s super easy to design your own ice skates using your favorite colors.
If you’re using this template as part of an activity for the winter Olympics why not design your ice skates to represent your country? You could write your country’s name on them or decorate them using colors and emblems from your country’s flag.
Stickers
Stickers are great for fine motor skills and they’re also a way for decorating things that’s normally pretty popular with kids too.
You could go for your child’s favourite theme, be that trucks, Paw Patrol or Disney princesses or go for a more winter theme. Snowflake stickers would be a great option for this.
Laces
If you are using one of the more basic designs then you could use scissors to cut the ice skate outline out and create holes for laces using a hole punch.
Use yarn or real shoe laces to lace through the holes and tie up.
If you are trying out this idea then I would recommend printing your template onto cardstock to make it that bit more sturdy and less likely to tear.
Tissue Paper Squares
Colored tissue paper squares are a great way to decorate and make a design a bit more colorful and they’re normally pretty popular with younger kids especially preschoolers and toddlers.
Just cover your ice skate in glue and then stick your tissue paper onto it to color your design in.
Cotton Balls
Add a fluffy fake fur lining to your ice skates by unrolling a cotton ball and then using glue to stick it to the top of your ice skate.
