Free Printable 4th of July Craft

Regular readers will know that I love sharing free printables, they’re a great way to help you create some fun crafts and spend time with your child without having to spend tons of money.

This printable craft is so easy to make and is perfect for playing with afterwards too.

Download the PDF pack and you’ll find four different pages of designs. Each of these has one star that has ‘Happy 4th July’ written on it in writing that can be colored in and then the second designs are an American flag, fireworks, small star shapes and a large star design.

You can print out all the designs or just the ones you would like to make. Of course you can print as many copies of this craft as you would like too so the whole family could have one or if you are planning a party or barbeque for the celebrations you could leave some of these out to be colored in by any kids that are coming.

Craft Supplies

  • Wand template (printed onto cardstock)
  • Coloring pencils, crayons or markers
  • Tape / double sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Paper straw or wooden dowel

Fourth of July Craft

Star by printing your craft template onto thick paper or cardstock, this will help make sure that it keeps its wand shape and is more durable when your child plays with it.

Next up is decorating, I prefer to do this before cutting the shape out so that if your child’s markers or crayons go over the lines at all you don’t need to worry so much about it going on your table.

You and your kids can use anything you like to color with and you could even add a bit of glitter glue if you wanted, I think this would look great on the fireworks design.

Next you will need to use scissors to carefully cut out your stars. Older kids can do this themselves but if you are making this craft with toddlers or preschool kids then I would recommend doing this part for them.

I’m sure it goes without saying but as with all kids activities you will obviously need to supervise throughout particularly if scissors are being used.

Use tape to attach one of your star shapes to the top of your straw or wooden dowel making sure that the colored in side of the star faces outwards.

You could also tape or glue some pieces of ribbon in red, white or blue to the inside of your craft to make streamers or you could tie some of the ribbon in a bow around the stick just under the star shape.

Finally you’ll need to stick the second star shape onto the back of the first, again making sure that the colored in part of it is facing the outside.

To join the two start shapes together I would recommend using double sided tape rather than a glue stick or school glue as it will hold the two pieces in place more strongly especially with the wand’s stick in the middle of them.

Worried you’ll forget how to make this? Don’t panic, we’ve written some easy instructions onto each page of your printables.
