My kids love taking part in scavenger hunts so we’ve shared loads of scavenger hunt ideas over the past couple of years, they’re so much fun and my kids always have a blast trying to find everything on the list – they’re a great excuse to go and explore in a way you might not have otherwise done as well.
In the PDF file for this July 4th scavenger hunt you’ll find two different designs, the first one has the image in the bottom right colored in while the second PDF has been left in black and white so that you can color it in. Just choose your favorite one to print.

How To Do A Scavenger Hunt With Kids
In all honestly the best way to do this scavenger hunt with your kids is the way that suits you best.
Want to do this scavenger hunt in teams? Go for it. Print out a PDF for each team and give a set amount of time for each group to find as many items as they can. You could even grab a prize for the winners if you like.
Don’t want the stress of a competition? I hear you, sometimes something like that can be enough to tip kids over the edge on a day that’s already pretty hyped.
For our family I tend to print out a sheet for each person and then we go around and look for as many of the items as we can. There may not be a ‘winner’ to the game but everyone has a wonderful time still and the kids normally help each other, pointing out things that they’ve seen and found.
Do You Need To Find Everything On The List?
Absolutely not. While I hope that you’ll see loads of fun things this 4th July no one really knows if you’ll see a patriotic hat or not and it’s certainly not worth ruining your celebrations stressing out trying to find one.
With my own kids we normally just try and see how many we can find and that’s enough to keep them happy, but if you want to do this as more of a competition then the winner can always be the person or team who finds the most things.
