Christmas elves are normally something that’s pretty popular with kids as they’re something that turns up in a lot of kids favorite films over the festive period such as Buddy in Elf and the elves in The Christmas Chronicles.

What Is In the PDF File?
The PDF file for our elf template contains five different designs that can download. You can print all of them or just print the ones that you want.
- The first template is a an outline of the whole of the elf’s body. This one does not have any facial features so you can add your own personal touch to it and design your own elf.
- The second template also has the elf in portrait but in this design they have facial features and their eyes are closed. There’s also more detail showing a bell on his hat, stripes on his leggings and buttons on his top.
- The third template is the same but in this one the elf has his eyes open and has cute rosy cheeks too.
- The fourth design is a landscape style picture just showing an outline of the elf’s head and hat.
- The fifth template is the same but has the elf’s eyes. cheeks and mouth added.
How Should I Print My Elf Template?
You can print this template onto normal white paper however if you will be using a lot of paint or glue in your craft you might find it better to print it on cardstock instead.
Elf Craft Ideas
Coloring
These designs are absolutely perfect for coloring, all you need to do is decide which colorable elf you like the most and grab your markers, crayons or coloring pencils.
Puppet
There are two different ways that you can turn your free elf template into a cute puppet depending on what craft supplies you have available.
The first way is to print your elf out on to thick cardstock and then color it in and cut them out using scissors.
On the back of your elf attach a popsicle stick using tape or a glue gun and it’s ready to play with. Using a glue stick normally won’t create a strong enough bond for this craft so I wouldn’t recommend it.
The second option is to print, color and cut out your elf before sticking it onto an upside down paper bag which kids can put their hands into to use as a paper bag puppet.
Photo
Print out the vertical elf template that doesn’t have a face drawn on it and grab a photo of your child where their face is roughly the same size.
Color in your elf and cut out your child’s face from the photo using scissors and then glue it on to the elf’s face so the elf looks like your kid.
You could even do this for all your whole family and use these as Christmas decorations, I think these would be really fun all on your mantlepiece!
Playdoh Mat
This activity can be a good one for younger kids such as >preschoolers who are often really keen on using playdough.
Pop your elf template into a plastic wallet or laminate it and you’re ready to use it as a playdough wallet.
I think the large elf face with no features would be good for this as you can add your own eyes, nose and mouth but go with whatever you prefer.
Don’t forget to make a fun design for the elf hat too!
