Scrunched Paper Apple Craft for Toddlers

Updated on 23rd August 2021 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

easy apple craft for toddlers

This time of year is all about apples and this easy apple craft for toddlers or preschoolers is a great way for your kids to get hands on with some simple crafting. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and the materials are really nice for toddlers to play with while they craft.

Do you use red or green when you’re making apple crafts? We tend to go for both as the apples in our garden have both colours on them too. Apple crafts are great as well as you can link them up with having a snack too (apples of course!) and we are *ahem* quite big fans of snacks around here. As well as this craft we’ve shared quite a few apple crafts for kids over the years so do take a look at the links at the end of this post and see if any of them would be suitable for your child – you could have an apple themed afternoon together!

As with any craft you’ll of course need to supervise your toddler during this activity but I think that’s a nice way to do something together – you could always make an apple craft too!

How To Make Your Apple Craft

Making this craft is really easy but you’ll need to do a simple bit of prep before you start – cutting the apple shape out of card or cardstock. When I’m doing crafts that involve a lot of glue or paint I tend to go for card over paper because it holds the moisture of it better – no one wants their craft getting too sloppy or falling apart!

Once you’ve cut out your apple shape Your child can get started with the gluing, covering the apple. For this I would recommend PVA / school glue rather than a glue stick. Finally get ripping your tissue paper and then you can scrunch it up into balls to stick onto your apple. The tissue paper is fun to play with and makes a great noise as you scrunch it too!
