Washi Tape Birthday Card

Updated on 16th December 2019 by Kate Williams | 13 Comments

Just a teeny tiny post from me today, but I thought this was so cute I’d share it!

Last week was my Father in Law’s birthday and I thought it would be nice if The Toddler and I did a handmade card for him. Partially because handmade gifts from children are always nice and partly because…umm… it filled up a bit of time without having to resort to cbeebies!

While he was having a nap I had VERY PRODUCTIVELY been having a browse on Pinterest feeding my washi tape addiction and found this cute card from Emerald and Ella (which I think they saw originally on Instagram). One blank card, a few different rolls of washi tape to choose from, scissors and a biro. Easy. Nap time over and I showed The Toddler what we were going to make and with a bit of help with the scissors and me saying ‘no! stick it so it stands upright!’ and the card was done. Obviously I did the wick drawing bit, he’s only three and all that.

I thought that was pretty good for a three year old and his rather tired mummy! And Grandad M was pleased too, phew!

This is so sweet. I am terrible when it comes to even the simplest crafts – but washi tape is one thing I think me and my eldest (3) could get on with. We went to a local art event yesterday and she made a building block collage thing using normal coloured tape and loved it so she’d love to make something like this! We haven’t got any birthdays until the end of the year so maybe Grandma will be getting an Easter card!

Good call, nothing pleases grandparents like homemade stuff and its one heck of a lot cheaper too!

Thank you 🙂 Yep it’s the only card that’s still up so I figure that means we did well!
