Bottle Top Crafts: DIY Stamps

Updated on 5th June 2024 by Kate Williams | 10 Comments

So as regular readers will know I’m on a bit of a quest at the moment to find some activities for toddlers to do with my one year old.

She’s suddenly at that age where she wants to do ‘stuff’ but neither of us are quite sure what that ‘stuff’ is yet!

Because toddlers are notorious for having short attention spans I like to use cheap or recycled materials where I can, bottle top crafts are perfect for this as it means I get an extra use out of all the bottles of milk she goes through.

These DIY stamps are super simple to make and are a great way to help with fine motor skills too.

Because I’m a great believer in activities that are easy to set up I used foam stickers that could be stuck straight onto the backs of the bottle tops.

I used a couple of different types of stickers and also left some without. I think it’s nice to have a variety of colours here too if you can.

My daughter is a great fan of painting (lets not talk about finding the dining chair legs painted a few weeks back) but given bottle tops rather than a brush she did sit there and look at me, obviously questioning my sanity.

I showed her with one stamp how to use it and she was away. The great thing about this bottle top craft is that as well as the obvious foam stamp they can also use the circle side of the bottle top to paint with, any plain bottle tops and your kid can also just have fun getting a bit messy.

Hands and fingers will also be included so do keep some baby wipes handy, yes, that is a baby wipe you can see in the background!

This is a great activity for helping your little one explore painting with new materials, using their fine motor skills and of course having fun!

What a great idea, such a good way to use up all those bottle caps too. We have a whole pack of foam stickers that we’ve not used too. I just need to stock up on paint!

I love your DIY stamps!! I made some similar to this years ago, but I mounted them on wooden blocks, bottle tops are much more sensible though, especially for disposable craft stamps.

Great post and activity to do with your little one.

This is such a brilliant idea Kate, she must love it – and an alternative to table leg painting! I’m sure my 4yo would too, she loves anything she can stamp with!
