Torn Paper Halloween Craft

Paper crafts are perfect for making with younger children, they’re low cost, most parents and teachers tend to already have some paper lying around and if something gets broken or spilled, well it’s no big deal.

I’ve shared a lot of free Halloween printables for kids and with this easy Halloween activity I’m sharing how you can use one of our templates to set up a super easy craft to do with your kids.

Tearing paper is a great activity to do with kids and it’s one that my own children have really enjoyed too.

Kids will love this simple Halloween torn paper art project because tearing paper can feel slightly naughty, while grown ups will love it because it’s a fun way to help develop fine motor skills.

If you are making this craft in a classroom or preschool and have to be a little more mindful about time then you could tear up some paper in advance and place it into a bowl for kids to use.

Supplies Needed

  • Witches hat template
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Glue
  • Colored Paper

Using a template makes this craft easier to set up, you don’t need to worry about your drawing skills and if you’re making this in a classroom or preschool then you don’t need to draw out multiple copies of the same thing.

Check out our witches hat template or if you fancy trying something different we have loads of free templates that you can download including cauldrons, ghosts and spiders as well as other templates to use throughout the year.

How To Make Your Torn Paper Witches Hat Craft

Start by printing your template onto white printer paper. If you think you’re child is likely to use a lot of glue for this craft (especially if you’re using school glue to make it) then you might want to print it onto cardstock instead to help make it a bit more sturdy.

Next it’s time to get decorating. Cover your witches hat in glue and then tear your colored paper into pieces.

Stick the torn pieces of paper over each part of your template until it’s all colored in.

If you want to make sure that you only get certain colored paper in certain areas – for example getting the black paper on the hat but not on the belt – then only add glue to one part of the template at a time.

Fun and easy crafts perfect for making with your kids!

I love this cute ghost craft and it’s one that I know loads of kids have tried out too as it’s it’s such a super easy Halloween craft for preschoolers or slightly older kids to create and the finished results look great.

It’s really simple to make, can help develop your child’s pincer grasp and uses basic materials to make it. You could try making this on the front of a Halloween card too.

Cut and paste crafts are some of my favorites and they’re a really fun way to practice cutting skills and scissor skills.

This cut out Jack o’lantern printable has loads of eyes, noses and mouths to choose from so you can design your own paper pumpkin.

Our Halloween I Spy worksheet is perfect if you want an easy quiet time activity. Kids can color and count all of our spooky themed items including haunted houses, monsters and candy corn.
