Easy Snowflake Wreath Craft

15th November 2018 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

We’ve shared some children’s Christmas wreath ideas before but I love the simplicity of this snowflake wreath craft which is perfect for all of winter too! Paper plate crafts are always great to make as they’re super cheap, which makes them good to do with a group (or if like my kids your child likes making tons of things!) and as well as making a cute decoration this craft is also a great way for kids to practice their scissor skills.

No problem, you’ll find them underneath along with some fun ideas for snow books to share with your kids. You’ll also find some more of our favourite easy winter crafts for kids with tons more easy and achievable inspiration. Want to make sure you don’t forget this craft? Be certain to bookmark this page or pin an image so you’ve got this to hand when you need it!

To make this snowflake wreath craft start by cutting a circle out of the centre of a paper plate, to keep this as safe as possible we always start by pushing the scissors through the plate into a ball of blutack or play-doh.

Next paint your paper plate, I’ve gone for a wintery blue colour but you could totally make this into more of a Christmas wreath craft by painting it red or green.

While that’s drying make your paper snowflake. Make sure that your square of paper is small enough to fit inside the circle you cut out and then fold and cut as you would with a normal paper snowflake. Finally attach your snowflake to your wreath so that it hangs down. I’ve used some ribbon but string or bakers twine would work really well too. I’ve also used masking tape rather than normal sellotape because its easy to tear and is a matt white rather than shiny which means it  doesn’t show as much.

Fun Snowflake Activities for Kids:

  • I made these name snowflakes at the weekend with my kids and they were a big hit!
  • This snowflake sensory bag is great to play with and you could practice counting the snowflakes or pop it on a table and do mark making in it.

Snow Books:

My children have always loved playing out in the snow but they also love getting back into the warm when they’ve finished! These books would be perfect for sharing as you snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate.
