Preschool Number Stamping Activity

15th February 2017 by Kate Williams | 3 Comments

Recently I’ve been trying to help my daughter learn how to count. Actually I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be able to count already but either she’s forgotten or her obsession with the number eight (no, I have no idea why either) means that other numbers don’t get a look in. Either way, this simple activity for teaching numbers to preschoolers was super simple to set up and allowed us to look at numbers together in a way that was fun and also helped with hand-eye coordination.

Ok, so this is obviously a super simple one but it’s perfect for when your preschooler says they want to do ‘something’ but leaves you with the stress of trying to work out what to do and as this doesn’t involves paints, glue or raiding the recycling it’s perfect for when you are a bit short on time or just don’t fancy getting the house covered in glue and feathers.

On a sheet of card I drew out some numbers using a thick felt tip pen and then gave my daughter some cute kawaii stamps which I told her she needed to do along the lines of each number, as she printed along each line we talked about what each number was or I would say ‘hey, lets do the next stamp onto number two!’

Obviously being three years old some of the stamps went elsewhere on the page but this is hardly a big deal and as my daughter loved the stamps (they are super cute, I honestly need to stop sharing my craft supplies with my kids) it meant that we could have a chat about what each stamp was a picture of too.

What a fab activity. My boys always loved anything to do with stamps and they still do.

What a great way to help your kids learn numbers and even the alphabet too – and ignite a love affair with stamps early on! Love it 🙂

Stamps are a great way to make an ‘ordinary’ activity into something very different. I loved them when I was a child and I’ve been quite disappointed none of my children were quite as keen! 😀
