Spooky Forest Kids Halloween Craft

Today I thought I’d share with you one of the crafts from my book 30 Halloween Crafts for Kids. I love this little spooky forest because it uses upcycled materials which helps keep the cost down, and it’s great for helping your kids with scissor skills and fine motor skills but even better at the end of their crafting they have something that they can actually play with – and anything that keeps your kids busy, happy and helps encourage them to use their imagination has got to be a good thing, right?

I’m happy to admit that I’ve totally c+p’d the text below from my book, not just because I’m writing this while inhaling caffeine before I get the kids ready for school and nursery, but because I wanted to share with you how I’ve set it out and how easy it is for you guys to follow and do some fun kids Halloween crafts this year -hope you like it!

Materials

Cardboard Rolls (e.g. toilet rolls)

Black Card

Black Paint

Paintbrushes

Yellow Buttons

Glue

Let’s Make It

It’s great to have crafts that you can put up on your wall but we also love making things that we can play with. We don’t have loads of Halloween toys here but my kids are super keen on Scooby Doo so we used this spooky forest as a fun place for the team to investigate!

You could also use these as a cute Halloween decoration for windowsills or your dinner table on Halloween night! To make them first take a cardboard roll and paint it black.

Cut a cloud shape out of black card to form the top of the tree and glue on some yellow buttons.

When your tree trunk is dry cut a small slit in either side of the top and then push the top part of your tree down into this.

Tips

If you don’t have any buttons, you could make the yellow dots instead using fingerprints or cotton buds (q-tips). Glow in the dark paint would also be really good for this!

30 Halloween Crafts for Kids is available to buy on Amazon – you can check it out here on the UK site and here on the US site.

I’m looking at that Scooby Doo figure in my living room at the moment! I always keep loo rolls now for crafting projects. I’m sure my son would love to make a spooky forest for all of his characters to play in.

Such a great idea. And we have the Scooby Doo characters as well. I love the idea of an activity that can use toys we already have.
