Paper Plate Hulk Mask

Updated on 25th August 2015 by Kate Williams | 3 Comments

This Hulk mask is super easy and fun to make and as it’s made from a paper plate that makes it super thrifty too! My four year old son made this last week while my daughter was painting her paper plate sun. Thankfully I tend to find that superhero crafts tend to take less intervention with my son as there’s nothing like wanting to get your superhero quite right to make you concentrate! This would also make a great playdate or party activity as you could cut out any of the bits needed in advance and then keep the kids nice and busy at the table!

How we made our Hulk mask

Before we started I cut out holes in the paper plate where I guessed my sons eyes would go, he then got stuck into painting the paper plate, covering it as meticulously as a four year old can!I cut out the eyebrows from black paper and mouth from white paper, both of these were freehand but obviously you can draw it in pencil first if you’re worried about your drawing skills.

The hair was done by drawing round the edge of a spare paper plate to get the correct curve and then cutting a spikey hair cut into it. If you have older kids or want to practice scissor skills with your child then you can get them to cut out these bits themselves.

Using a felt tip pen my son then drew the teeth into Hulks mouth. This is a great way to encourage fine motor skills in young kids without the pressure of learning to write letters or copying something – it really doesn’t matter if Hulk has slightly wonky teeth!

My son then stuck the mouth, eyebrows and hair onto his Hulk mask using PVA glue. Once it was dry I stuck a craft stick onto the back using my glue gun, meaning that the Hulk mask could be held in front of his face a bit more easily. Done!!

Superheroes are always a hit with the group of boys I know. Looks like a lot of fun. I love open-ended play and this mask would add a BIG bit of fun to it for sure.
