Cookie Cutter Christmas Cards

Updated on 29th November 2015 by Kate Williams | 4 Comments

This week we’ve been making cookie cutter Christmas cards. I’m going to hold my hands up and say that Christmas card writing is probably my least favourite Christmas activity, so getting the kids to do some homemade cards always makes it more bearable for me! These cards may not look like Clinton’s finest, but they are kid made and are great to send to family members. Plus cookie cutter crafts are fun for the kids so that’s a good thing by me!

Cookie cutters – we had stars, angels, snowmen and snowflakes

Red and green paint

Plain white cards

Paper plates (just a suggestion, see below)

How we made our cookie cutter Christmas cards:

Before we started I put out two paper plates for the red and green paint. My reason here is I know that my son is obsessed with mixing colours at the moment and I wanted to at least give us a chance of having red and green on the cards rather than just sludge colour! It worked for a little bit and then I got ‘Mummy….. what colour does red and green make?’ and lo the game was up and we had brown. Hey ho!

how to make cookie cutter christmas cardsI pretty much just layed the cards out flat and let my son get on with it. By laying out the cards flat you have more room for your kid to enjoy printing with the cookie cutters and also you can then decide which bit you want as the front cover to your card 😉

As you can see, our designs ranged from ‘fairly sensible stars’ to ‘messy Christmas’. I know that the Grandparents would much prefer these though to something from a shop so I’m (fairly) cool with that. In fact I think I kinda love our cookie cutter Christmas cards.
