Day of the Dead Felt Craft for Kids

Seeing as I had a load of felt left over from my Minion finger puppet last week, I thought it might be a fun idea to do some kind of Day of the Dead felt crafts with my son. After all, he goes to a Church playgroup and I’m guessing they don’t teach about the Day of the Dead there?? Nevermind though, Mummy to the rescue!!

This was obviously a super quick craft to do. To be honest, as the mother of two tiny kids, if something takes me more than two minutes to prepare then I know it’s going to cause me hassle so this was perfect for us. I simply cut out a skull shape from white felt and then using some of the brighter colours I cut out hearts, squares, diamonds and triangles to decorate with.

I just placed the pieces on to a bit of black felt as I wanted a minimal set up, but if you want to make a fuzzy felt style board you can do so, rather handily, just before typing this up I noticed that Munchkin and Bean linked up a tutorial to last week’s Tuesday Tutorials on how to make a felt board so I’m more than happy to recommend that you go look at that!

Obviously the age, attention span and level of interest in symmetry that you get from your child will dictate what your Day of the Dead skull ends up looking like!
