I love reading stories with my kids but as the nights draw in I think I enjoy it even more. It’s not quite Hygge (because I’ve failed on the fairy lights front and I don’t trust naked flames) but it is definitely the time for snuggles, blankets and enjoying some time together. Katinka’s Tale is the latest story from Judith Kerr OBE – a favourite childhood author of mine who is now loved by my kids too as they share my copy of The Tiger Who Came To Tea (complete with ‘Kate age 4’ written in it). Today I’m sharing a little about Katinka’s Tail and how you can win a copy along with some other of Judith Kerr’s other stories.
Katinka’s Tale Review and Giveaway
Katinka’s Tale is a story about a lady and her cat Katinka. Katinka is a perfectly ordinary cat, or is she? Katinka’s Tale is a beautiful story filled with magic about the warm friendship between a lady and her faithful cat. I loved the way the narrator is so passionate about claiming that her cat is perfectly ordinary, that there is nothing unusual about her and then slowly learns that perhaps unusual isn’t such a bad thing after all.
The book is beautifully illustrated and my kids loved looking at the illustrations as we read the story. I know that they enjoyed this book as they chose it again as their bedtime story that night! As I was reading up on Judith Kerr I discovered that Mog (from her book Mog The Forgetful Cat) was actually written about her own cat Mog many years ago and likewise Katinka is the cat that lives with her now. Writing this now with my kids tucked up in bed I want to go up and have another peak at the story, is the lady in it Judith Kerr herself?
Katinka’s Tale would be a lovely book for the kids to find under the tree this Christmas (who doesn’t love a bit of magic at Christmas) and you can buy a copy here now. If you would like to enter our giveaway to win a copy of this book as well as two others by Judith Kerr then check out the giveaway details below.
