With half term upon us it’s the perfect opportunity to get the kids outside in the garden. They get some fresh air and fun, you get them away from staring at a screen and still get to sit around with a cup of tea, sounds like a win win situation to me! Today I’m working alongside Wayfair to share my ten favourite games for kids to play in the garden, there’s a great mix of things you can do for free, classic games they’ll love and umm… one rather oversized game that I’d desperately love too so as long as the weather stays dry I’m sure there will be something that’s perfect for your kids too.
Space Hopper Races
Much more fun than just running around, I used to love space hoppers as a kid and actually I wouldn’t mind one now either. These space hoppers are perfect for adults as well as kids and would be great for family competitions.
Jumbo 4 Game
This is one of my kids favourite games to play together and the normal sized version used to keep my youngest entertained forever as a toddler. I love this big version to play outside and at 75cm tall it’s the perfect height for kids.
Musical Bumps
Make the most of soft grass outside with this classic game, just pop some music on youtube and you’re ready to go!
Giant Snakes and Ladders
How much fun does the huge dice on this outdoor snakes and ladders game look! Perfect for teaching younger kids number recognition or doing addition with slightly older kids, this game is secretly pretty educational too!
Hide and Seek
My experience is that my kids are the absolute worst at hiding, my daughter still thinking that if she turns around that means we can’t see her, but to be honest that just makes the game funnier and this is always a popular one round ours.
Giant Tower Game
I like to tell myself that this is great for hand eye coordination – which it is – but actually I just really love playing it and my kids love anything that has a bit of destruction involved so this giant tower game for the garden would be perfect for us.
Sack Racing
This fun sack racing game would be perfect for setting up a family games competition outside or for keeping the kids busy if they have friends round. Ice poles for all the winners!
Outdoor Toy Wash
Possibly more of an activity than a game but this is always really popular round ours – just fill up the washing up bowl with water so the toys can have a pool party or add some bubble bath and get them all clean too!
Outdoor Air Hockey
Air Hockey is my absolute favourite game ever so it’s become a bit of a family tradition to hunt out air hockey tables and have a family tournament. This tabletop air hockey game is perfect for popping outside on a garden table and having a little tournament in the sun!
Garden Quoits
We used to have quoits when I was a kid and it used to keep me entertained for ages so I’m looking forward to introducing it to my kids. It’s a great one if you don’t feel like running around too much too!

I must get some of those sacks! Since the weather has gotten good again we have been having lots of garden dates with our neighbors. Our row of houses has seven kids between us and the other evening they were playing Bulldog in our garden!
We have that jumbo games and the kids love playing it and nothing beats a space hopper race
