We had such a blast with this fun challenge from Petplan and I’m so excited to be able to share the results with you today, I’m sure you’ll agree the results are pretty amazing! My son has been on about wanting a pet for ages, depending on the day that’s been dogs, chickens, snakes and dinosaurs. I had a dog when I was a kid and I think that pets can be a good way to encourage responsibility in children. Petplan asked my son to design his dream pet and he set to work on the challenge.
His first attempt was a dog but, man, dogs are a bit tricky to draw aren’t they? As a craft blogger I think people sometimes expect me to be able to draw but ummm…nope. Drawing dogs is way beyond my capacity too so I wasn’t much help to him. Attempt number two was a snake and he was super happy with this one, I love the detail he drew on with the teeth and tongue, I’m not sure if a scary snake picture should make you smile but this certainly does for me! Once it was done we sent the picture off to Petplan to work their magic.
Petplan’s pet insurance was set up in 1976 and offers great pet insurance policies, over the years helping millions of owners to get their pets back on their feet after illness or injury. Over the years we’ve had both dogs and cats and I know the difference good pet insurance has made to us, there’s nothing like the panic when you are sat at the vets wondering how much your bill is going to be! Petplan is one of only a few pet insurance companies to offer genuine ‘lifetime’ policies but they also have 12 month policies that are designed to suit all needs. They also work with more animal rehoming charities than any other pet insurance provider, working with more than 1,200 charities throughout the UK.
A few weeks after sending my son’s picture to Petplan we got a rather exciting parcel in the post and my son was over the moon to find ‘snakey’.
I’ve heard before about turning children’s drawings into toys before but we were amazed by this, even snakey’s tongue was 3D and you can move it in different directions. I did wonder if my son would want to cuddle a toy snake but snakey has become very much a favourite toy and he loves to show it off to people, like a real pet snakey is one of the family and has been away on holiday and camping with us too. Many thanks to Petplan for helping my son find his dream pet, he loves it!
What pets do your kids have and what would their pet be?
This post has been sponsored by Petplan but all thoughts are my own.

WOW!! That’s amazing that he designed his dream pet!! My kids would love to do this, although I’m sure they would design a dog as we already have one who they love!
