As we can’t get to a cinema at the moment my son has been busy reading a new Finding Dory book this week, so when I suggested making some Finding Dory ice pops to him he was super excited, even though we had to order in ice pop molds especially as ours got lost in the move! These fun ice pops are super simple to make and are almost healthy?! Ok, well they’re certainly not 100% but they do count towards one of your kids five a day and that’s no bad thing to me!
I loved doing Baby Led Weaning with my kids. With my first born I tried doing purees too but frankly by the time I reached my second child being weaned I had neither the time to make loads of purees nor the cash to buy lots of ready made ones. Also, my favourite bit about baby led weaning? I got to eat at the same time as my kids and actually use both hands to eat! Don’t knock it, I’m sure most of us mums are fully used to luke warm dinners eaten with one hand by the time our child reaches six months old. At the beginning of this year I shared 40+ things my daughter could eat before she had teeth and more recently I shared 10 baby led weaning dinner ideas that my whole family loved. As they’ve both been so popular I put my head together with one of my friends and together we came up with 10 more baby lead dinner ideas that we loved as much as our kids did!
I really enjoyed being able to share family meals when my daughter started weaning. She refused to touch anything on a spoon so baby led weaning was the only option! Sometimes though I struggled with baby led weaning dinner ideas that the whole family would eat. They still had to be something my 4 year old might like and as my daughter didn’t have teeth until she was nearly one sometimes I’d get a bit stuck for things she coud actually eat rather than just suck. These ideas are all meals that we ate as a family while doing baby led weaning and which both of my kids would eat some of!
With the arrival of New Year a lot of us start thinking about how to be more healthy, once you have kids it’s not just you that you think of but your children too. This week I’m linking up my post on 40+ foods your baby can eat before they have teeth, as my daughter will eat anything, however, like a lot of preschoolers my son is a lot more picky so I’m sharing some great healthy snacks for kids today to help inspire me too!
A couple of weeks back my neighbours came round with news that their apricot tree was overflowing and would I like some? Obviously I was Super Excited about this and planned a new life as one of those women who Does It All and still has time to make jam. Only when I went out to get aforementioned apricots there were alot, but not enough to make peach jam. Future crushed, despite the fact that it wasn’t even mine and actually they were being very kind. I stressed for a bit (first world problems) and then went down the greengrocers and bought some peaches. Peach and Apricot Jam. Happy days.
