Last weekend we were lucky enough to be invited to try out one of Sykes Cottages gorgeous rental properties. As the mum of two kids I’m a great believer that you can still do whatever you like once you have kids. You want to go sailing round the Galapagos Islands? You go for it! However, I also greatly believe that life is a lot more pleasant when your kids are happy and not moaning during long travel times. I have a one year old and a four year old so I like to keep them cooped up for as short a time as possible! Thankfully Sykes Cottages came to to the rescue and found us this amazing property only a couple of hours from our home.
Punch Cottage is described as having a pond in the garden. I had a pond when I was a kid, it had a couple of frogs in it. The pond at Punch Cottage had two boats, ducks and half a dozen swans in it. Needless to say we were pretty impressed by the Wow Factor when we turned up! The property itself is in Little Glenham which is about 15 minutes from Aldeburgh. We took full advantage of this by visiting the town on a couple of occasions, my kids loved the beach there and spent loads of time collecting stones and eating icecreams. I had a slight accident in Joules. Everything was good.
Although we had a great tie exploring the area, one of the great things about Punch Cottage was that we really didn’t feel like we needed to travel far. The cottage itself was really spacious with plenty of room for the kids to move around, on the one day when the weather wasn’t great we were all happy just chilling out there. Having had cabin fever on holidays before I can certainly say that this wasn’t the case here! As well as the ‘pond’ outside there were two ride on tractors, swingball and a games room that is nearly as big as my garden at home. When the kids saw the swings and slides I told them that I thought it must belong to next door. Except being on a farm there was no next door within sight, I just genuinely hadn’t realised how much there would be for the kids to do there.
Being on the farm was great for me and my husband too. As well as all the outdoor time nicely knackereing the kids out, when they went to bed we were able to relax and I was able to pick up a sewing project I hadn’t touched for a year. At hoe I find it hard to stop working and really switch off, but with such gorgeous views across the farmland I couldn’t convince myself to do anything worklike at all.
We loved staying in Punch Cottage and couldn’t have wished for a more stressfree staycation. I’ve already had a couple of cheeky looks at their booking form for the rest of the year so hopefully we’ll be back soon.
I’m also currently judging a competition for Sykes Cottages where you can win one of six prize bundles of fabulous crafty goodies worth £100! To find out more check out their blog here.

Does sound like a nice break. Had to laugh at your comparison of the two ponds. Very idyllic.

Goodness me, it’s more a lake than a pond! What a fab place to stay and unwind in such beautiful surroundings.

It looks lovely, we stopped off in Aldeburgh a few weeks ago when we were in Suffolk & loved it. Now I’m planning another trip to the area this summer as we had such a good time so will definitely look up these cottages as they seem very child friendly.
