Do your kids ever waste food? No hang on, are there any kids that have never wasted any food?! With two small kids I’m sure that the average meal means more food ends up under the table than it does in their tummies and then of course there’s the other issue, food that they really, really want and then of course refuse to eat. Which is where these frozen smartie desserts come in.
These cute desserts were of course influenced by the lovely Grace who writes Eats Amazing, her yoghurt bites are of course way more healthy than mine but my justification is that mine are waste free. Also in my experience smarties can fix just about any problem, we made these yesterday morning before school when everyone woke up on the wrong side of bed and they were ready by the time the kids got home from school. Even my two year old was perfectly able to make these herself so if you like baking or cooking with toddlers it’s a really good no-prep activity.
So, these frozen Smartie desserts were made using normal Smartie yoghurts that the kids really wanted and then totally didn’t fancy. We dolloped the yoghurt into silicone cupcake cases and then popped the Smarties from the dessert on top. I’m counting that as a fine motor skills activity?! Pop them in the freezer for a bit and they were done – strangely frozen yogurts are suddenly much more appealing to kids!
